Hello and welcome! We are the Thornburgs- Troy, Kathy, Milo & Eden. Adoption has been part of our family plan since day one, and it’s taken us 16 years to get to where we are now.

It’s not been an easy road, but we know everything that has brought us to this point has helped prepare us for what is coming next. We are thankful for everyone who has joined us in prayer and preparation as our family prepares to bring home our little girl, travel overseas, and adjust to life as a family of five.

We are waiting to be allowed to travel to meet Molly for the first time and bring her home. We were supposed to leave on January 31st, 2020, but our plans were halted due to the pandemic. Years later, we continue to wait for approval to travel to China to bring her home. We have been filled with so much hope in the last several weeks and we have slowly witnessed announcements and changes that lead us to believe travel could happen at any time. We also have learned to expect the unexpected and know our wait has the potential to be far from over. Whether we are days away from jumping on a plane or months from meeting our daughter, we continue to be overwhelmed by the love of our family and friends.

HOW YOU CAN GET INVOLVED

• We are fundraising to help cover the cost of flights to and from China for Troy and Kathy to bring Molly home. These costs have increased significantly since our original travel dates in 2020, and many friends and family have asked how they can help support us financially. We have started a new CausePage to allow people a safe and easy way to give financially towards our final costs. CauseTeam does not take a portion of monetary donations made to our page outside of any credit card processing fees. If you prefer to give financially in another way like PayPal, Venmo, or check, please reach out to us through the email address below.

• Join our prayer team and subscribe to our newsletter to receive updates about our adoption. Newsletters haven’t been sent in many months as we made our supporters aware there was simply no news to share. We look forward to the day we have good news to share with everyone.

• Thank you to all who helped us reach our financial goal for this adoption up to the point of travel.

• Thank you to all who donated items and money to go towards the purchase of needed supplies for the care center. As time continued to pass, many of these donations were nearing expiration and the uncertainty of travel restrictions forced us to change plans. Donations that could wait long term were mailed to the US donation coordinator to await the next trips leaving for China. Donations of food and health items with nearing expiration dates were donated locally in the Charlotte, NC area to families in need of specialty formula and other supplies.

FUNDRAISER & GRANT UPDATES

• Our One Mission custom T-shirt fundraiser ran from August 24th to November 30th in 2019. We raised $1,285.68.

• We received two grants from wonderful organizations. One covered $7,000 of our adoption fees and one covered $4,000.

• We were blessed with many donations from family and friends outside of our One Mission fundraiser totaling $12,020.35.

• The above amounts went towards the adoption fees paid to our agency and the processing and preparation of many official government documents. We are now in the very last step of the adoption process- travel to China and our time in country!
